The Recipe

1/4 cup brown sugar
1/8 cup honey
1/8 cup butter
1/8 cup natural peanut butter
1/2 banana, mashed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5/8 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup rolled oats

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, consolidate student loans together the brown sugar, honey, butter and peanut butter until smooth. Stir in the banana and vanilla. Combine the whole wheat flour, oat bran, oats, baking soda, salt and pumpkin pie spice in a separate bowl. Stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until it forms a smooth dough. Mix in the cranberries, chocolate chips and sunflower seeds. Drop by spoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, until cookies are lightly browned at the edges.

Although this chocolate chip cookie recipe is not the most basic, I have tried an awful lot before I settled on this one as my favorite. Try it I know youll agree. You will note that I have used dark chocolate chips because I really have a preference for dark chocolate. My kids prefer a sweeter version but I reserve the above recipe as a secret adult one! Drain the rice into the colander and rinse it briefly under cold water to remove any excess starch clinging to the grains. There won't be very much, that is the purpose of the vinegar - which will not, I promise you, adversely flavor the rice.

Now put about three inches of water in the bottom of the pan and bring it to the boil. Put the colander with the rice on the pan, and the pan lid over the rice.

Reduce the heat and steam the rice for around ten minutes - or until you are ready to use it. It will be perfectly cooked, light and fluffy.

One huge advantage of that method is that you can prepare your rice beforehand and simply keep it in the fridge until you need it - even overnight if necessary. Be sure to cover it though, to prevent it drying out.

A mix of dried herbs will also give you an excellent savory rice. In fact, once you understand the basic method, the end result is only limited by your imagination.

Before I bought my first amp, I wouldn't have thought that a human could produce such a horribly wretched sound. But, now I know better. I've often been asked to give beginners online advice on how to dial in their amps and guitar settings. So much is involved in getting the sound just right for your tastes-including the room you're playing in, the gauge of your strings, the guitar you're jamming on, and the type of amp itself. Low settings can give you the classic rock-n-roll sound, while higher mids will take you down the honky-tonk, bluesy path. Bass If you like that deep, booming sound, you'll definitely want to go fat on your bass. On smaller amps, however, you might not be able to get the full effect of the bass simply because of their size. But, no matter how you like it, be sure to see how the bass and treble can work with one another to create your ideal sound.

EQ / Filter / Tone/ Contour They're called by different names on various amps, but they all do the basically the same thing: adjust all of your basic settings (e.g., treble, mids, and bass) with one knob. If you want to find out what the maker of your amp considers "correct" settings, play with these knobs to hear how your treble, mids, and bass all can work together for radically differing results.

If you've got a valve (tube) amp, be sure to:

always replace the whole set when even just one tube blows

never move your amp while it's still hot

be extra careful that you line up he pins in each tube perfectly with their corresponding holes on the amp

To make sure you keep your amp in top condition, be sure to:

keep your amp in a dry location

always use the best quality leads (guitar, speaker, microphone, and effects)

always have your amp serviced by a capable technician

Theater and orchestra by definition are more public, but still involve private time before joining in public to perform for the community.

Meeting the Challenge of Today's Rebel Generation

Teens drop out of high school and colleges to escape the grip of their parents, opting instead for personal fulfillment and human gratification. Society sees its youth caught up in all types of sexual experimentation, illicit drug use, and primitive perversions. In finding themselves, these youth reject organized religion in favor of the mystical and spiritual. For them, it is a time of free love and happiness. To traditionalists in America, it is the Age of Youth Rebellion. At least, this how some historians describe the Hippie Generation of the 60s, and three decades later we are still facing the same issues.

Surveying the American landscape, I ponder what has created this youthful insanity. This summer at the AAU Junior Olympics in Tennessee, I witnessed the aftermath of a fight between a mother and her teenage son. Several months ago, I saw a 60-year-old mother come out of medical treatment to find that her daughter had evicted her and left her belongings at the clinic. These occurrences have become more frequent and outrageous over the years. Let me state these happenings are not isolated instances. Many people refuse to believe what is going on. Let me just say that Lone Ranger it isn't happening in your family or inner circle doesn't mean it isn't a dilemma.

Others folks believe these extremes only occur for lower-class citizens. Yet these issues transcend social class. Today's Pizzacrtdfojjhd at all levels of society are battling to save their children from pop culture and from self-destruction. The level of disrespect is rampant as kids decide at 17 years old that they fully grown, cursing out teachers and challenging other authorities. Some culture apologists declare that the basic spirit of children hasn't changed. However, as I talk with seasoned veterans of education, athletics, and religion it is clear to me that there is in fact an increase in harmful conduct, and that this rebellious attitude is indeed cropping up all over this nation, regardless of income. Therefore, let's analyze this youth culture with an everyday perspective.

The emerging situation is perplexing. According to the Coalition for Juvenile Justice Report in 2003, an alarmingly high number of youth with serious emotional, behavioral, and substance abuse issues are caught in the juvenile court system. More than 27,000 youth on an average day are estimated to reside in locked detention centers. In fact, an estimated 57% of inmates in US prisons were under the age of 35 in 2001. Many talkshows trivialize this trend by blaming parents for their wayward children. This isn't always where the blame lies; there is really a much more complicated situation to consider.

As children are bombarded by pop culture, traditional values are being challenged. Some kids once they turn 17 feel they know everything and take on the world. Some end up leaving home to "do their own thing" and leave the values of their parents behind. Postmodern influences create a climate of rebellion, generate a lack of respect for authority, and place an emphasis on the pursuit of self-interest. From the very rich to the poorest of the poor, we see people caught in a vicious cycle of bad decision making. Sadly, we also see it much closer to home. We witness relatives making those bad decisions. Despite all the wise counsel, poor decisions continue.

Bad kids can come from good parents, just as good kids can come from bad homes. At some point, there is an age of accountability. A kid must decide if he or she wants to make good decisions. This situation plays outs in millions of homes in America. In the end, bad choices catch up with these young rebels and so do the consequences of bad choices. Some seek to get their parents to bail them out while others opt to take the punishment. This includes dealing with an alcohol or drug addiction, becoming a parent, or getting incarcerated. In this scenario, parents are often faced with the decision to help their grown children or let them deal with their consequences.

once more, I am talking about good, caring parents, if in a couple or single parenting. Many observers stand in judgment of these parents. They shouldn't. The variables are many and so are the impacts on parents. According to the US Census review of 1999, grandparents who have one or more of the grandchildren, comprise 2.4 million of today's families; this represents an increase about 19% from 1990. While allowing their own parents to handle their dilemmas, these 21st century Comicsytiwbgl forget about their responsibilities and pursue their own selfish interests. Fortunately, others repent and take personal responsibility. I am pretty old school. Eventually, if children are at an age where they want to make adult decisions, then they are at the age of suffering the consequences. If they continue with a parental buffer, how can they correct their ways?

Fortunately, the story isn't over yet. We must teach this generation about adulthood, if they are inclined to listen. Clearly, some emerging trends will impact the quality of life for all Americans. It is unfair to blame teachers or hardworking parents for the rampant misbehavior of youth in general. Even good parents are having a difficult time with this youth culture. However, I am optimistic that positive change will happen. The hippies of the 60s are now the executives, public officials, and leaders of our country and community. If that generation with all of the social baggage it carried became better citizens, I am optimistic that today's generation will as well. Let's hope it is sooner than later.

The twin brothers that make up the core of Good Charlotte were born on March 11, 1979 in the "middle-of-nowhere-suburbs", Waldorf, Maryland. Saw - You will use this to cut up your panels where you have marked them with the carpenter's crayon.

Claw - When you're backed into a wall, sometimes the only way you can get a grip on the sides of the panels to pull them is with your claw.

Broom and Dust Pan - You'll find yourself cleaning up saw dust, splinters, and chunks of wood often during this job.

Preparing the Surface

When laying hardwood floors, you'll want to prepare your surface area well, as whatever flaws you leave there will be there for the duration of your floor. The last thing you want to do is install them without a proper, flat surface to support the wood. Any lumps or holes under the wood could cause damage and will cause squeaking floor panels

One of the things you can do to prepare the surface for laying hardwood floors is to scrape off any residues or lumps on the surface. Also, you should patch up any holes in the surface.

Next, you will need to do a good surface cleaning. Sweep the floor and get out all of the dust. More importantly, make sure no chunks of wood, splinters of wood, or pebbles are on the surface.

It may be helpful to compensate for any uneven surfaces by ensuring that your first row of floor panels are the sturdiest of the lot. These will help anchor the rest of the panels. If these are not made of good wood, your whole floor will have problems.

Step by Step Instructions

1. Start by positioning your floor liner on the place where you're going to begin laying your hardwood floor. You can do this each time you lay down another piece of floor board, or you can start by laying the whole thing out for the entire room before laying them.

2. Lay your first hardwood panel in the corner. The grooved edges should point towards the wall. It is best if your initial corner has straight edges and no objects to have to work around. When you're sure it is where you want it, get it fixed in place.

3. Fix your next hardwood panel to the first one by gently hitting the end of it into the connecting joint. The two boards should fit together nicely and create a smooth surface. You should not have a gap between panels. Also, you should not have the panels overlapping each other. If you hit the panel to hard, it could bust and/or the original panel could bust.

4. Staple the panels in place. Do not place the staples within one inch of the edges of the panels or you may create a crack down any edge of the panels. The panels should be very well affixed in place when you're done.

5. Repeat steps three and three until you get to the next corner.

6. Cut the panel for this next corner carefully so that it will fit in perfectly to the corner.

7. Start your next row of panels using the leftover piece from the panel cut in step six.

8. As you add more panels to your row, you will now have to pay special attention to pound the panels together both to their current row and to the panels beside them from the last row. Remember not to hit the panels too hard with the rubber mallet.

9. When you start running into parts of your floor where there may be modifications to the shapes of your panels required, lay the panel in place as much as possible. Then mark around the exact areas where you need to cut your panels to avoid the obstacle, but still hug the obstacle as tightly as possible with the panels. Cut your panel tightly around the object. If you can't quite fit the panel down, use the cutter knife to shave off the excess wood.

10. Continue to repeat all of these steps until your new hardwood floor has been completely laid.

Tips

-In addition to making sure that you do not staple too close to the edges of the panels, make sure you don't drive your staples too deeply into the surface of the floor. When dug too deep, they will pull areas of your nicely finished surface down. It could also cause the floor to break the staples through at a later time when there are pressures on the floor.

-As you complete each row, recheck the row to make sure there are no small gaps at the connecting joints. These will not only look bad later and cause instability in the connection, but they create gaps under the wood as well which can cause bubbling in the floor. This can result in creaking sounds whenever you walk on the floor. If you notice a row is not well fastened in any place, gently use your mallet to push all of the gaps together before laying another row.

-Before starting each successive row after the second row is complete, first walk around on the row you just completed to test it for stability. If it squeaks, something isn't right. It's a lot easier to go back and correct the problem now than when you finish the floor!

Clean Up

You only want to get rid of the sawdust at this point. Ignore any advice to use a wet rag or mop. Give your floor some time to settle before you start applying water. The water will make the wood swell and it could pop out of place and even warp if it gets too wet before it has settled into place.

The exception to the water advice is if you deviated from the instructions here and used adhesives to connect joints, you will need a damp towel to rub off any excess glue before it can harden on the surface. Just be very careful not to have your floor get any more wet than necessary.

As for cleaning up the saw dust, your broom and dust pan will do just fine. If there is still some dust or debris stuck in hard to reach corners, you can get this out using a vacuum with a hose attachment. Once you've completed cleanup and waited a day for your floors to settle, you've completed the staple down technique for laying hardwood floors.

It will let you operate in a very direct way using machine code. Understanding this code is a very important part of this procedure. For example you could enter D40:0 and this will give you a few lines of information. The first will tell you all the ports which are present in your machine. Of course you will see it only if you know the codes like F8 03 which is COM1 port, F8 02 COM2 and so on. Use the command q to exit the shell.

Other useful information that you should know is why some software supports are not possible. For example Windows 95 does not support hard drives over 32 GB. It is designed that way because there was no need for that kind of support when it was created. Its the same with file systems - you cant use FAT16 if the size of the partition is over 4 GB. You should always think about what is supported because this is your final limit.

The locking of the hard drive is another interesting issue. It is done by the simple commands lock and unlock. For example if you want to lock the partition with letter C you should type lock c: and unlock c: to unlock it. You may encounter problems if the hard drive is locked when you try installing software, operation system or perform any other activity that requires special writing access.

I will finish this article with information about recovering loss, missing or deleted files from the hard drive. This is very important to know because it could save you a crucial data. First ensure that the files have really been deleted. Try finding them on all drives because sometimes it is possible that they have simply been moved. Check if you have a backup of the file. If you have one it will be easier to restore from it. Many operation systems have recycle bin or trash and if you mistakenly delete a file you may find it there too. If you cant recover the file like this and if it really is deleted you should know that only the link in the file system has been deleted. Now the most important thing is not to write any more data on that drive because the file you are trying to recover is marked as free space and it may be deleted completely if you write data over it.

Pericles entrusted the work to Mnesicles, a celebrated architect of the fifth century, who used both Doric and Ionic orders in the construction of this noble monument, which his contemporaries unanimously considered the architect's masterpiece. It was often said that the building of the Parthenon and the Propylaea would alone suffice to ensure Pericles immortal fame.

Early in the thirteenth century the French dukes of Athens established their chancery in the north wing of the Propylaea and in 1387 the Florentine Nerio Acciajuoli built a high square tower on the south wing of the building, known to later generations as the "Frankish tower". The Turks covered the portico with a dome and made it a storehouse for arms and gunpowder. In 1656 the edifice was struck by lightning, which exploded the powder magazine and shattered Mnesicles' masterpiece. The devastation was catastrophic. The enormous architrave collapsed and brought down the entire roof; with the exception of some columns the whole of the interior was rent asunder. The monument suffered further damage during the War of Independence, when hundreds of shells fell on the Acropolis.

Immediately after the Liberation a first attempt was made to clear the Acropolis of all alien buildings. Later, in 1875, the unsightly "Frankish tower" was pulled down but until the beginning of the past century the debris of the Propylaea lay where it had fallen. The work successfully carried out in the course of many decades by the Archaeological Society of Athens has restored, as much as possible, the monument to its original state.

At the south-east angle of the Propylaea is to be found a semi-circular marble base on which stood a bronze statue of Athena Hygieia (Goddess of Health). This statue was probably erected by the Athenians in thanksgiving to Athena for the recovery of the city from a terrible plague that decimated its population during the second and third year of the Peloponnesian War (429-428 BC).

The main building of the Propylaea forms a quadrangle of large dimensions, 25 m. in length by 17.40 m. in breadth, transversely divided by a wall into two hexastyle porticoes. The wall is pierced by five gateways, which were closed by massive wooden doors covered with bronze and richly decorated. The door posts were inclined inwards so that the doors were wider at the bottom than at the top, a structural device used by the architects of the period so that the doors should close automatically. The largest of the gateways is in the center of the wall and is flanked by two smaller ones on either side.

The portico in front of the transverse wall was faced by six Doric columns, the spaces between them corresponding in breadth to the five gateways in the wall. The central gateway is almost 5.50 m. wide, which allowed of a broader passageway to the Acropolis, while the two narrower gateways are about 3.70 m. The portico beyond this division was similarly faced by six Doric columns. A double row of slender Ionic columns stood on either side of the processional route that rises towards the central entrance. These columns divided the deep outer portico into three colonnades spanned by slender beams, with a coffered ceiling decorated with gold stars and ornaments on a blue ground.

The north-west wing consists of a hall with a portico of three Doric columns between two antae, and was adorned with paintings, mostly by Polygnotus; for this reason it was known as the Pinakotheke. Though it is not known whether the paintings were frescoes or not, the absence of any traces of the wall being treated to receive stucco indicate that the paintings were in fact executed on wood or marble.

The unrelenting opposition of the priests of the Temple of Athena Nike, who claimed that the addition of another wing to the Propylaea would encroach upon the Sanctuary, compelled Mnesicles to modify his design, with the result that the south wing is much smaller than was originally planned.

The Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act ("ILSA") is a federal law which was passed in the late 1960s to protect buyers Planet of the Apes out-of-state land. Those were the days when parcels of vacant land might be advertised to far-flung speculators as promising wonderful development opportunities. Only once the land was purchased and the purchaser traveled to take a look at the parcel for the first time, it would turn out to be a worthless, isolated patch of desert or swamp with little or no potential to access the infrastructure or resources needed to sustain a viable development project.

In the years since ILSA was passed, the law has been held to apply to condominium developments. And as real estate market watchers know, pre-construction condo investments in places like South Florida may appear to present many of the same problems The Hobbit vacant land sales once did. In particular, pre-construction condos are advertised as glamorous out-of-state investment opportunities -- a chance to make money while literally owning a cutting-edge piece of paradise. At this point, the buyer detects ways in which the building (which may not yet be fully constructed) deviates from what he or she believes was promised before signing the purchase agreement, and the buyer begins to feel cheated.

One of the significant requirements of ILSA is that the developer register the development with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") and furnish a thick "Property Report" to the buyer before he or she signs the purchase agreement. One particularly important exemption, which is widely misunderstood, is the so-called "two-year" exemption. Generally speaking, a developer does not need to register with HUD and provide a Property Report if the developer provides a contractual commitment to build the development within two years after the date the buyer signs the purchase agreement. However, the "two year" exemption is not as straightforward as it may seem, because while developers may seek to "qualify" Montana Lemon Laws two year commitment by limiting the buyer's remedies in the event that the two-year deadline is missed, Florida court are rather strict in their interpretation of the exemption such that the developer may actually lose the exemption if it qualifies the two-year deadline in such a manner.

Of special importance on this last point is 15 U.S.C. section 1703(c), a section of ILSA which provides that in the event a Property Report is required but the buyer is not provided one prior to signing the purchase agreement, the buyer has the option of revoking the Soul Given the current real estate market, it is unsurprising that there a number of cases currently on the docket in Florida state and federal courts allege that buyers (who are seeking to get out of their condo contracts) were not provided a Property Report when they should have been. Time will tell whether the courts agree with these buyers and find that the failure to provide a Property Report is an adequate basis to cancel their contracts. History of the Computer - Machine Code Programs Part 1 of 3

In previous articles in the History of the Computer series King James I looked at adding, counting, and memory etc. But what are we going to do with these components? How do they all tie together? What is the connection between Windows or a Tonenljhqwcnb you fill out for the Government, and the bits of a computer we have looked at?

We are looking at general purpose commercial computers here, which means that, within reason, anyone can buy a computer and Gay Comics it for their business. For example an oil Runronny might use it to analyse survey results carried out in the South Atlantic. An Airline could use it to schedule freight shipments between Caracas and other South American Airports. The same computer could be used to run a bank's ATM network. All of these could simultaneously run what we may consider the most important program, the Payroll!

How do these users get 'their' system to run their business on the same computer as another user with an entirely different business? The answer of course is - software. But what is software?

You could ask different people in IT this question, and get different answers. A programmer working in Java sees a different aspect of software from an analyst working on the operating system. A different view again is seen by the design engineer making sure the computer follows its instructions.

The difference is in the level of separation from the 'works'. The java programmer does not need to consider how the computer knows when it has finished multiplying two numbers. He doesn't even know that it is multiplying, or even what type of computer his program is running on. The analyst is aware of how the computer handles the 'bits' and uses this knowledge to make the operation more efficient.

We are concerned here with how the computer carries out its task, rather than how someone might wish to use it, but it is interesting to know what may be relying on its smooth operation.

A program consists of a series of commands to the computer to perform various tasks. As we have seen, the computer works in '1s and 0s', so its no good feeding a java script on a card into the slot on the front of the machine, like you may have seen in early black and white movies! There are other programs, like compilers and interpreters to reduce the 'code' the programmer writes to 'machine code'.

Different proprietary systems, like IBM or Univac, had different architecture - hardware design (and different operating systems to make them work). However the principle is the same. We will look at a small program to O Come All Ye Faithful how the computer would handle it.

In Part 2 we will look at how a machine code program is made up to instruct the logic.
